Man United Eyeing Ex- Chelsea Director For Key Role

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is in advanced talks to bring in former Chelsea technical director Christopher Vivell into his team, as he tries to revamp football operations at the club since acquiring a majority stake in February.

The restructuring has already seen the appointment of Omar Berrada as United’s new CEO.

Berrada was formerly chief football operations officer at Manchester City and will start work later this month.

Jason Wilcox has been brought in as technical director and has been poached from newly-promoted Southampton.

Most recently of all, Dan Ashworth was confirmed as the latest addition to United’s revamped hierarchy following a deal with Newcastle United to release him from his contract.

Ratcliffe has set his eyes on bringing in the experience of Vivell on a short-term basis to help the club in transfer business this summer.

The 20-time English champions hope to harness Vivell’s expertise in talent identification and player recruitment.

Vivell comes with the enviable record of having been Chelsea’s technical director since December 2022, a role he parted ways with in July last year.

He had earlier worked at Hoffenheim and Red Bull Salzburg. He is the man who signed Erling Haaland at Salzburg.

He thereafter relocated to Germany to take up the post of technical director and squad planner at RB Leipzig.

These are some of the current core players he signed, including Josko Gvardiol, Mohamed Simakan, and Dominik Szoboszlai.

Interest in Vivell from Ratcliffe reflected Manchester United’s ambition to make full use of his successful experience in talent identification and recruitment.

This is part of a wider strategy targeted at enhancing the competitive edge of the club in the transfer market and making a stronger, more capable team.

These strategic appointments should make Manchester United feel more secure about the place of the club within the English football.

They are going to integrate many other experienced professionals as well like Vivell to oversee their management structure for significant improvements in their talent acquisition processes.

With the club currently restructuring, it is noteworthy to both supporters and stakeholders how these probable changes will affect Manchester United’s performance on and off the pitch.

Christopher Vivell might become a vital constituent in securing future success for this club.
