Manchester United are interested in signing Wolverhampton Wanderers midfielder Joao Gomes this summer ahead of a major midfield overhaul under Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s era.
According to the Mirror, the Red Devils are ready to splash £40million to sign the Brazilian ace who joined Wolves in January 2023.
Since moving to the Molineux, the 23-year-old has been in splendid form in the Premier League. Man United are particularly impressed by his displays against the big six clubs this season.
Gomes played a key role in the club’s 2-1 victory over champions Manchester City last year. He also provided an assist in this side’s victory against Chelsea and another two goals against Tottenham Hotspur.
His progress has earned him a debut call from the Brazilian national team and it is expected that he will be allowed to show his magic on the field against England on Saturday.

The midfielder has won the Copa Libertadores and Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A with Flamengo. He has shown his title-winning mentality in England with his mature performances in just 38 appearances.
It’s time for the player to move to a bigger club and there are a lot of options waiting for him. Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on landing the youngster.
Meanwhile, United are deemed as favourites since they are in urgent need of midfield reinforcements this summer.
Gomes can form a solid partnership with Kobbie Mainoo next season
With Christian Eriksen and Casemiro’s futures hanging by a thread and Sofyan Amrabat’s expected departure, the Red Devils need quality ready-made players to stabilise their starting XI.
Erik ten Hag would be open to partnering Kobbie Mainno with Gomes, and this could be a really interesting move on paper. Both players are young and hungry for titles.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will not have problems matching this price tag demanded by Wolves. However, they need to be swift in their actions as other clubs can intervene in the upcoming months.
Gomes’s value will continue to rise if he continues to shine on domestic and international platforms.
