The 23-year-old was linked with a move to Old Trafford last summer. However, the former Feyenoord player moved to Estádio da Luz for a fee of around €25 million.

He played a promising role as a central midfielder for Benfica. But the same cannot be said during his spell at the Dutch club.

Orkun Kokcu has recently criticised Feyenoord manager Roger Schmidt for playing him out of position in the majority of the games.

He is not happy with the manager’s plans and that led to a rift as he went public with his complaints.

Schmidt dropped the midfielder in their next game against Casa Pia and it looks highly likely that the player might now prefer to move to a new club this summer.

According to journalist Koray Baloglu, the Eredivisie outfit could demand a fee close to €40m to let him leave without serving his contract.

Should Man United make a move for Kokcu this summer amid concerns regarding his form?

The Red Devils have a realistic chance to strike a deal this summer but we are not a fan of this move. Orkun Kokcu has played an average of just 65 minutes in over 34 appearances.

Although he might perform better if he is given the freedom to play at his natural position, we believe that Man United could have much better options in that position.

Erik Ten Hag’s side signed Mason Mount last summer but it has been hampered by injuries. The former Chelsea star can outshine many players and the fans need to be patient with him.

Mount has returned to action in United’s stunning victory over Liverpool in the FA Cup.

Rather than taking the risk of signing a controversial player like Orkun Kokcu, it would be better to have faith in their current crop of players.

They might look for other options if things don’t fall in place before the summer transfer window.
