According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester City has joined arch-rivals United in the race to sign Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham.
The 19-year-old is now one of the most sought-after midfielders in the world, and a number of clubs are keeping an eye on him in an effort to lure him away from his Bundesliga team.
The young midfielder’s brilliance was on full display against Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City during the Citizens’ 2-1 victory against Dortmund at the Etihad Stadium last month.
That evening, Bellingham scored an impressive goal, and now there are reportedly more teams interested in recruiting the lad, including City.
Along with Premier League foes Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United, Guardiola’s team will face stiff competition from many other clubs to sign the English prodigy.
Erling Haaland, a former teammate of Bellingham, will be looked to by City supporters to persuade the 19-year-old to join the blue side of Manchester. The Dortmund midfielder may be tempted to emulate Haaland’s success after watching how well the Norwegian has performed under Guardiola.
However, Manchester United are still in the race to sign the Dortmund star with Ten Hag a fan of the midfield talent. The Red Devils have been linked with a move for the youngster since the last summer transfer window.
Bellingham could be an excellent replacement for Christian Eriksen. The Danish midfielder is already in his 30s and the manager will be looking forward to signing a young prolific midfielder who can dominate Old Trafford for many years.
Real Madrid is also in the race and it seems that the battle to sign Bellingham will be the next hot topic in the blockbuster summer transfer window.
