According to club’s official website, Manchester United has officially announced their schedule for their four pre-season games. The matches will start on July 18th as United aims to prepare well for the forthcoming new Premier League season.
Date | Day | Time | Match |
18-Jul | Sat | 17:30 | Derby vs Man U |
24-Jul | Sat | 19:30 | QPR vs Man U |
29-Jul | Thu | 0:30 | Man U vs Brentford |
7-Aug | Sat | 21:30 | Man U vs Everton |
The Red Devils will take on club legend Wayne Rooney’s Derby County at Pride Park on July 18 which will be a great game to watch as both former United players turned managers face each other for the first time.
They will have seven days of lengthy training camp in the UK which will be followed by an away game with Queens Park Rangers on July 24th. The last two pre-season games will be played at Old Trafford against the recently promoted Premier League side Brentford and Everton on July 28 and August 7 respectively.
These two games will likewise offer the club the chance to invite fans back to Old Trafford. However, the number of fans to enter the stadium will be decided by keeping in mind the Covid-19 rules and restrictions.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer complained about the lack of pre-season practice during last year because of the pandemic. The Red Devils made a shambolic start to the season, losing three of the initial six league games. At last, those lost points proved to be quite crucial for them as they failed to catch Manchester City in the race for the title.
This pre-season plan has been made by keeping in mind the travel limitations. The onus will be on Solskjaer to convey a solid title challenge this season. The Red Devils have been trophyless throughout the previous four years and the most pressure will be on Solksjaer to hand over the first trophy to the club.
We hope that Manchester United completes all their transfer deals and gets the squad back on time for some much-needed practice.
