Manchester United ask Gary Neville to help regenerate Old Trafford

Former Manchester United star Gary Neville has held surprise meetings with the club in recent days to help upgrade the ageing Old Trafford stadium and its surrounding area.

As stated by The Times, Neville’s recent widespread criticism of the club’s poor infrastructure has made the management consider his name as they plan for further stadium upgrades.

The Englishman was vocal about the leak in the stadium’s roofs in October and pointed at other recent infrastructure issues. The Red Devils could benefit from his knowledge in this area of concern.

Neville is not new to this subject since he has been working on the same with his University Academy. He has shown his acceptance of working in harmony with the new owners and contributing to the project.

However, he has also warned that he might get away from the talks if it affects his partnership with broadcasting unit Sky Sports.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe aiming to kickstart his Man United ownership by dealing with the infrastructure issues:

It has already been revealed that INEOS chief Sir Jim Ratcliffe has acquired a 27.7% stake in Man United.

The British billionaire and also the owner of French club Nice, aims to implement drastic changes both on and off the field.

Hence, it’s no surprise that the recent decision to add Neville into the mix has been a plan of Ratcliffe to take his first step towards making a positive impact on the club.

The new owner includes the renovation of the Theatre of Dreams in his strategic agenda. He wants to help the club reach the pinnacle of world football.

It has also been reported that he might splash £240 million to deal with the infrastructure issue. Even if it may not change the stadium overnight or make it compete with the likes of Santiago Bernabéu, it may still bring a significant change off the field.

Additionally, the Red Devils are in talks with Premier League giants Newcastle United to rope in their sporting director Dan Ashworth and talks are already in progress.

The director has left on a 20-month leave period and it remains to be seen whether the highly experienced figure will secure a move to United this summer.
