Manchester United are reportedly considering signing Porto striker Mehdi Taremi during the current summer transfer window, as stated by Portuguese newspaper Jornal de Noticias. The English club are actively searching for a new forward and has been linked with numerous notable players.
United could be planning a surprise move for Taremi, who has been on their radar for quite some time. Erik ten Hag reportedly admires the skills and abilities of the Iranian international, who recently rejected a lucrative offer from Al-Hilal.
To secure Taremi’s services, Porto are said to be seeking a transfer fee of €20 million. The 30-year-old striker had an exceptional season with Porto, contributing 31 goals and 14 assists in 51 appearances across all competitions.
In addition to his impressive goal involvements, Taremi boasted a pass completion rate of 75% and won almost five ground and aerial duels per game.

Ten Hag’s interest in Taremi could be attributed to the striker’s well-rounded skills.
However, it is our opinion that while Taremi would be a decent addition to the team, he should not be the primary choice as the leading striker. Instead, he would be a valuable signing as a backup or secondary striker.
We believe that United should aim to secure a top-tier forward like Goncalo Ramos, who possesses the necessary qualities to succeed in the Premier League.
Taremi would undoubtedly be an improvement over Wout Weghorst, who struggled to make a significant impact during his short-term loan spell from Burnley earlier this year.
