According to Fichajes, Manchester United is highly interested in Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko and is willing to match his current value with RB Leipzig in order to get him this summer.
Sesko is making an impression at Salzburg, following in the footsteps of Manchester City attacker Erling Haaland. In 37 games last season, he scored 11 goals and provided seven assists while being only 19 years old.
Sesko’s season record currently stands at eight goals and three assists from 27 appearances, but he could end up with even more goal contributions this year.
Though he is not destroying the Austrian Bundesliga as much as Haaland did, his reputation is still solid and he still has a strong chance of playing for one of the biggest teams in Europe.
Leipzig stated in August that they had reached an agreement with Salzburg, a sister club, to sign Sesko. The young striker signed a five-year contract with the German team, where he will play on loan for Salzburg for the current season before joining Leipzig in the summer.
Sesko can still join a different team this summer. Salzburg and Leipzig are prepared to bend if another team offer a high price for the deadly Slovenian international.
Manchester United enter the picture here. Wout Weghorst is destined to leave Old Trafford, while Anthony Martial may be put up for sale.
In order to allow Marcus Rashford to play as his favourite left winger, Ten Hag needs to find a new goal scorer to anchor his forward line.
Currently, Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen are the key transfer targets this summer. However, they will cost more than £100 million. Therefore, Sesko might be a cheaper alternative. He will cost about half that much as he is currently valued at £55 million.
United wanted to start transfer talks last summer but the Bundesliga side rejected the deal. But now the Red Devils have re-entered discussions in the upcoming months as they search for a less expensive option to Kane and Osimhen.
