Manchester United Eye Watford Midfielder Yaser Asprilla

Manchester United is keen on getting Watford’s midfielder Yaser Asprilla for the next summer games. This news follows the end of talks about coach Erik ten Hag’s job at the club, with the Dutch leader set to stay on.

Following the decision to retain ten Hag, Manchester United’s focus now shifts to strengthening their squad for a competitive return to the Premier League’s top four.

Despite links with several young talents known for their potential, substantial progress on notable signings has yet to materialize.

Yaser Asprilla

A surprising addition to United’s list of potential targets is Watford’s 20-year-old midfielder, Yaser Asprilla.

Colombian journalist Guillermo Arango, reporting on X, disclosed United’s interest in Asprilla, who enjoyed a productive season in the Championship. Asprilla contributed six goals and seven assists in 28 starts and 16 substitute appearances for Watford.

Asprilla, son of former Newcastle United striker Faustino Asprilla, has accumulated valuable experience with 86 appearances over two seasons for Watford.

Despite primarily playing in the Championship, Asprilla has already made an impact on the international stage, notably scoring two goals in four appearances for the Colombian national team.

In addition to Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund, the 2024 Champions League finalists, are reportedly among seven clubs across four nations interested in signing Asprilla.

Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion, who previously engaged in transfer dealings with Watford involving Joao Pedro, are also monitoring Asprilla’s situation.

Italian clubs AC Milan and Bologna have shown interest, while Spanish clubs Real Sociedad and Real Betis are admirers as well.

Yaser Asprilla

Despite Asprilla’s lack of game time and experience in Europe’s top divisions, Watford are holding him out for a substantial fee, reportedly around £30 million, reflecting their valuation of the promising midfielder.

The negotiations and competition among interested clubs will determine whether a deal can be reached that meets Watford’s financial expectations for Asprilla’s transfer.

Man United’s chase for Asprilla shows they are getting ready to make their team stronger, hoping to do better in local and maybe even European games next year.

As the transfer time moves on, how this plays out for United and Asprilla will grab the attention of fans and experts.
