The Sun has reported that club captain Harry Maguire will resume first-team training this week, giving Manchester United a much-needed boost.
The Red Devils and Chelsea just drew 1-1 in an exciting Premier League match. After United fell behind in the 87th minute, Casemiro scored an equaliser in stoppage time to save a point for his team.
Although the outcome was somewhat satisfactory, Raphael Varane’s hamstring injury came at the wrong time for the team. It seems that that French defender will be out for at least four weeks.
Varane is not expected to return to action for United before the World Cup, but they have received a boost in terms of injuries elsewhere as Maguire is scheduled to resume full training following a muscle issue.

Last month, while representing England in the Nations League, the star suffered an injury against Germany. Since Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez are the only other fit centre-backs, his comeback should be a major boost for the club.
Despite Maguire’s patchy form over the past few years, he has continued to be an important member of the team. Varane’s setback provides Maguire with a chance to make amends in the upcoming weeks.
Lisandro Martinez’s partner of choice will undoubtedly be Lindelof, although the English centre-back will also be vying for game-time.
There are still six games left until the mid-season break, so Ten Hag will probably switch up his central defensive pairing. Maguire’s return is also good news for England going into the World Cup.
Even though it seems obvious that manager Gareth Southgate will select him for his 26-man squad despite the fact that he hasn’t played much, Maguire needs to be in top physical condition before the tournament starts.
