Manchester United FC have failed to sign a centre-back this transfer window, even though it was thought to be the most important signing. Lately, the United centre-backs have been poor and the defensive department surely lacks a leader. It is now being reported by ESPN that after failing to sign him this summer, Manchester United lead the race to sign Dayot Upamecano.
It was earlier reported that Manchester United had missed out on all of Solskjaer’s priority signings, which included Upamecano. Though the Red Devils tried to sign him this summer, they failed to convince RB Leipzig to sell him. The French defender is one of the best young defenders in the world and is ready for the step up to a bigger club.
It is now being reported that Manchester United are in pole position to trigger Upamecano’s release clause next year. But the Red Devils will not have an easy task to lure the Frenchman to Old Trafford, as Liverpool and Real Madrid are also looking to sign him. He will be a great signing for Manchester United, but looking this summer transfer window, it looks unlikely.
Manchester United need to invest and back the manager in order to have any chance of winning silverware anytime soon.
