According to The Sun, Manchester United are ready to tie Marcus Rashford to a new, long-term contract as long as he agrees to a base salary of £300,000.
The English attacker has been in outstanding form for the Red Devils this season. In 26 games this season, he has scored 16 goals and provided six more assists.
After his match-winning goal in the Manchester derby, United manager Erik ten Hag recently referred to him as “unstoppable,” and negotiations over a new, long-term contract are currently under way.
Rashford will continue to make £200,000 per week until June 2024. The Red Devils are willing to extend his contract if he accepts a 50% pay raise on his salary plus other incentives.
The club has made it clear that they will not alter their wage structure to accommodate the 25-year-old. They have asked De Gea to accept a 27% pay cut on his £375,000 weekly salary in order to keep the top earners in their squad in the £200,000 to £300,000 per week range.
But Rashford must remain with United at any cost. The academy graduate has excelled this year for United. He has had a significant impact on the Premier League, as United are currently in a strong position to finish in the top four.
It makes sense to give the club graduate a better deal because Ten Hag evidently rates him very highly. At this moment in his career, Rashford might want a significant pay increase. If he is hesitant to accept the contract offer on the table, United should find another way to persuade him.
They could also agree to exorbitant sign-on and loyalty fees while simultaneously including large bonuses for each target contribution. For the upcoming season, United will aim to tie him to a new contract as soon as possible.
Since last summer, French giants Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing him. They had a private conversation with his brother last year. If Rashford does not extend his contract, the Ligue 1 powerhouses may make a serious offer this summer.
