According to the Sun, Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing David de Gea back to the club on a short-term deal.
The team is facing the potential absence of Andre Onana due to the Africa Cup of Nations in January, and they may need a replacement goalkeeper if Cameroon advances far in the tournament.
To address this, the Red Devils are considering re-signing De Gea on a free transfer as they prepare for life without Onana.
The 32-year-old remains a free agent after his release by United in July when the club decided not to extend his contract.

Manager Erik ten Hag was keen on a goalkeeper who could excel in playing the ball from the back and consequently brought in the former Ajax star.
Although Man United also acquired Turkish star Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce in the summer, Tom Heaton would be the only other goalkeeper available during the Africa Cup of Nations.
In light of this, Ten Hag is pursuing a quality option, which is why the move for De Gea is being considered.
Onana has faced criticism since joining Old Trafford, with ongoing struggles in fundamental goalkeeping skills and ball-playing abilities.
Despite his recent impressive performance, which included saving a crucial last-minute penalty against Copenhagen in the Champions League, United are still actively preparing for possible scenarios in January.
De Gea, who spent 12 years at the club after joining from Atletico Madrid, was initially offered reduced contract terms to stay at the Theatre of Dreams, with his weekly wages decreasing from £375,000 to £200,000.

However, the club eventually withdrew that offer. While there were rumours linking him to a move to Saudi Arabia, nothing materialized, and he has continued to train independently.
The big question now is whether De Gea would consider returning to United, especially given that he won’t be guaranteed a starting position.
The unfolding events in this situation will be interesting to watch.
