Manchester United Keen On Signing A Striker In January

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that the club is looking to sign up a new striker in the January transfer window in order to bolster his attacking options.

United have struggled for goals and creativity since offloading big-name forwards the Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez in the summer transfer window to Inter Milan. The Red Devils are currently languishing in 11th position ahead of Monday’s showdown against Arsenal and might have to field 17 year old Mason Greenwood to lead the line in attack.

Solskjaer’s side were linked with Juventus duo of Mario Mandzukic and Paulo Dybala, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho and Athletic Bilbao star Inaki Williams before the window shut but the Premier League giants weren’t able to lure anyone to Old Trafford.

After their opening day win over Chelsea in the Premier League, United have managed to score only a single goal in the next six games along with a 2-0 defeat against West Ham United last weekend. Marcus Rashford is currently out due to injury and Anthony Martial is also a doubt for the game against the Gunners and Solskjaer has hinted that the club will look to sign some attackers in the January transfer window.

The 46 year old admitted that his team needs a creative force and some players that can find the back of the net on a regular basis, “We let Alexis and Romelu go, you don’t have to be a rocket scientist to see that it’s forward that next time we’re going to recruit. We’re looking for some creativity and goals. There’s no point getting players in that you’re not 100 percent sure about. When you get players in, you need the right ones that are going to stay here for a longer period and that’s the long-term thinking we have to show.”
