Former Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has admitted that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to sign upto five players if they need to compete against the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool at the top of the Premier League table.
The Red Devils have struggled this season and recorded their worst ever start to a Premier League campaign as they recorded just nine points in eight games, only two points above the relegation zone. United’s latest embarrassment came at St James’ Park on Sunday as they lost 1-0 against Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United leaving them in 12th position on the table.
Although United spent big money on transfers in the summer window by recruiting Daniel James, Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan Bissaka they are still in shambles and ex-United star Ryan Giggs believe that the club needs a few more signings to get back to the top.
The 45-year-old Giggs spoke to Sky Sports and explained that Solskjaer might need a minimum of around four to five players over the next few transfer windows to get back into the groove, “They need another four or five players. He (Solskjaer) has brought in three players but he probably needs seven or eight (altogether). But you can’t do that over one transfer window, so you have to be patient because it will be slow. The culture has changed and what he is trying to do was much needed. He needs time.”

United needed penalties to get past League one opponents Rochdale a few weeks ago and drew against AZ Alkmaar as well in the Europa League. With only two wins in their last six games across all competitions, Solskjaer’s job has come under threat and he needs to turn the ship around soon.
