According to Manchester Evening News, Manchester United is willing to bring back three of their current loan players who are playing with Championship clubs.
At the moment, Sunderland, Birmingham City, and QPR are hosting Amad Diallo, Hannibal Mejbri, and Ethan Laird on loans, respectively. Each of the three has a recall clause that can be exercised during the upcoming transfer window.
The club wants to see the trio develop, but the Red Devils may recall them as they will need them in the second half of the season. Given his strong performance for QPR this season under Michael Beale, Laird in particular could be a candidate for a return to Old Trafford.
Under Erik ten Hag, Aaron Wan Bissaka has only made one appearance, coming off the bench in a league match. Laird might then join the first team squad as Diogo Dalot’s possible backup.
In the meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure might call for the inclusion of another forward to United’s lineup, which Amad’s comeback might still do.
The Ivorian has been in fine form in recent games for the Black Cats, scoring in three of his last five league outings. Although the United hierarchy has not yet made an official decision regarding whether he will be recalled in January, the club is reportedly considering it.
The trio has established themselves as key players in their respective sides after each made an impression while out on loan this season. However, Ten Hag might decide to expand his squad to meet the demands of these competitions given that United is expected to compete for a top-four spot as well as in the Europa League.
In the end, the goal of these loans has been to prepare the players for the first team so that they may potentially return in January with the objective of participating in the latter stages of the season.
The players themselves will be eager to play for the first-team squad, but it would be a blow to each of these three Championship teams if these players returned to Old Trafford.
