Manchester United player ratings against Brentford

Manchester United have once again fallen prey in the hands of a tactically strong ally. Brentford’s attacking force completely left United shattered in this fixture helping the home team create history by scoring 4 goals in the first half.

Two mistakes from our goalkeeper handed the home side an easy two-goal cushion. Nevertheless, United’s defense was once again found missing which has been the issue since last season.

Let’s take a look at how Manchester United players performed against Brentford-

David De Gea (GK)- 4/10
Despite conceding two quick goals due to the errors committed by him, De Gea made some good saves to prevent Brentford from scoring more. Made some of his trademark diving saves as well to keep the scoreline in check.

Luke Shaw (LB)- 3/10
The English wingback made innumerable mistakes throughout the first half that cost United to concede on almost every occasion. The shaky United defense has once again let down the whole team.

Harry Maguire (CB)- 4/10

Hardly made any challenges to prevent the opposition from scoring and finding those lush green open spaces from where they took charge of the game. A very poor performance was once again displayed by the Manchester United captain.

Lisandro Martinez- (CB)- 4/10
The new summer signing has been fighting to adjust himself to the Premier League atmosphere. The lack of exposure in this league and the tensed situation has prevented him from displaying his true potential. United shouldn’t have conceded the third goal but they did due to his lack of judgment with the ball.

Diego Dalot (RB)- 5/10
The right-back made a number of runs inside the opposition half but failed to deliver the accurate crosses required. The crosses often made were either high-powered or so slow that the Brentford players often intercepted. Passes and crosses like this haunted United in this game.

Fred (CDM)- 4/10

The most improved player for this squad has let the team down due to his inability to cope up with the Brentford pressure. The lack of judgement with the ball and mispasses made Erik Ten Hag substitute him right at the beginning of the 2nd half.

Eriksen(CM)- 6/10
Eriksen tried his best to get the score on United favour but he was often found unfortunate in front of the goal. His shots hovered way above the goal post and his brilliant header was comfortably saved by the Brentford keeper, David Raya. The only player for United who showed some positive sparks in this horrific game.

Bruno Fernandes (CAM)- 5/10

The Portuguese international made a brilliant play, completely orchestrated by him and then went on missing the shot at the end. Overall performance from Bruno was a complete disaster as a lot of chances were missing.

Jadon Sancho (RW)- 4/10
As always the young English winger has failed to deliver what’s expected out of him. No shots were on target and no willingness to get on the front foot was shown. Questions will soon arise regarding his existence in this squad.

Marcus Rashford (LW)- 5/10
Despite getting a handful of chances in both halves he failed to score.

Ronaldo (ST)- 4/10

Never did we think that Ronaldo will be horrific against a weak team. But the tables have turned! Brentford’s defense was so well organized that the most prolific scorer in the league fumbled.

Substitutes-
Scott Mctominay (CM)- 5/10
Came on right at the beginning of the 2nd half to help United defensively. Gave away a never of unnecessary challenges which made him receive a yellow. Looked composed despite being 4-0 down.

Varane (CB)- 6/10

Varane should have been in this game since the very start. Maguire’s perfect replacement! Looked very composed and made no errors. United could have conceded a lot more if we didn’t have the French International at the back.

Malacia(LB)- 5/10
Took on Luke Shaw’s position and played brilliantly to prevent Brentford from scoring in the other half as well.

Donny Van De Beek(CM)-NA
Hardly got any minutes to get ratings.
