Manchester United Player Ratings against Newcastle United | EPL 2020-21

Manchester United thrashed four goals past Newcastle to win their second game of the season in the Premier League. The Red Devils came back from the humiliating Tottenham defeat and played well despite conceding in the second minute of the game. Manchester United players played a good game after the international break and looked fit and ready to play in the Champions League.

Let us now have a look at the ratings of the Manchester United players against Newcastle in the Premier League last night.

DAVID DE GEA – 8

David De Gea had a brilliant game in between the posts, as the Spaniard came up with a couple of great saves. He could not have done anything in the first goal as the ball ricochet off Luke Shaw. De Gea kept the Red Devils in the game and deserves a lot of credit in the victory.

AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 7

Wan-Bissaka had one of his best games of the season so far and also scored the first goal of his professional career. The right-back was great defensively and also produced the good going forward, which will be encouraging for Solskjaer.

VICTOR LINDELOF – 5

Victor Lindelof was once again called back to the team but again looked gullible. The Swedish international was easily turned by Saint-Maximin for Newcastle’s goal and was also bullied in the air.

HARRY MAGUIRE – 7

The Manchester United captain finally showed glimpses of what he is capable of, both defensively and going forward. The centre-back started the United comeback with a thumping header from Mata’s corner.

LUKE SHAW – 6

Luke Shaw had a good game overall and was very unlucky to have scored the own goal in only the second minute of the game. Shaw played well going forward and had a good positional understanding to the game.

FRED – 6

Fred was the reason Manchester United kept ticking forward as the midfielder’s tenacity was influential for the Red Devils. His won the ball back several times in the midfield and recycled play into the forwards.

SCOTT MCTOMINAY – 5

Scott McTominay had another poor game in a United shirt as he was dribbled with easy, especially by Saint-Maximin. Only looked better in the second half after United dominated the game.

BRUNO FERNANDES – 8

Bruno Fernandes had a mixed game as he missed his first penalty kick for the first time in the Premier League. But the midfielder ended the game with a goal and an assist and was United’s chief creator going forward.

JUAN MATA – 7

Juan Mata had another great game in a United shirt, starting his first game in the Premier League season. The veteran Spaniard provided the assist for Maguire’s goal and moved the ball well throughout the game.

DANIEL JAMES – 6

Dan James had a poor game as he once again proved his critics right with poor decisions on and off the ball.

MARCUS RASHFORD – 9

Arguably the best player on the pitch, Marcus Rashford’s form will be very encouraging for Solskjaer. The Englishman ended the game with a goal to finish off the game and a couple of assists.

SUBSTITUTIONS

PAUL POGBA – 6

Pogba came in and around the hour mark and had a moderate game as he didn’t influence too much on the pitch. The Frenchman also lost the ball a couple of times and still looks rusty.

DONNY VAN DE BEEK – 7

It was again a shock to everyone that Van de Beek wasn’t starting for Manchester United. The Dutchman was again outstanding for the Red Devils as his arrival changed Manchester United going forward.

NEMANJA MATIC – N/A

Nemanja Matic came on late into the game to secure the two-goal lead United had over Newcastle.
