Manchester United Ready To Cash In On Mason Greenwood?

According to the Football Insider (via the Manchester Evening News), Manchester United have planned to sell Mason Greenwood this summer after his recent resurgence with La Liga side Getafe.

The 22-year-old has flourished since moving to the Spanish club last season on loan. He has scored 10 goals and provided four assists for Getafe.

However, his future with the Red Devils was hanging by the thread and it was earlier stated that the club is yet to make a decision. It has now been revealed that the English international has been made available for a fee of around £40 million.

Several European clubs have shown interest in the striker with Juventus being a frontrunner in this race. Man Utd are focusing on a major squad overhaul and could use these funds to sign new players.

Greenwood’s future at Old Trafford came under the spotlight ever since he was arrested on charges of rape and assault in 2022. He spent 18 months without playing professional football and on his return he faced severe backlash from the fans.

The English giants decided to let him leave on loan. But it is highly unlikely that he will return to the team and selling him permanently might be the best option for Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

We believe that his current price tag is not justified since he has not played much football after returning from trial. It remains to be seen whether Juventus or any other club tries to negotiate a deal with Man United.

The 20-time English champions are ready to trigger the one-year extension in his contract. This will help them preserve his original value and avoid losing him for cheap.

Greenwood has showcased his talent with a decent spell with Getafe and there might not be a shortage of options for him. However, the English clubs might stay away from a deal as they will face a huge backlash from their fan base.

Other European clubs will be keeping an eye on this transfer in the upcoming months.
