According to The Sun, Manchester United is prepared to take a hit in terms of the selling price of both, Anthony Martial and Eric Bailly during the summer transfer season.
Both players have slipped down the pecking order at Old Trafford, and it is believed that their long-term future at the club are in doubt given that their contracts are set to end in June 2024.
Martial had a disappointing loan stint at Sevilla in the second half of last season. He made 12 appearances in all competitions but only managed to score once and so is likely to rejoin the Red Devils.
Erik ten Hag’s team is willing to listen to offers for Anthony Martial of around £20 million, which is less than half of the money they initially paid to get the forward from Monaco in 2015. This also contradicts a story that claimed United expects Martial to remain at the club this summer.
The Red Devils are also willing to take a hit on Bailly, which is valued at roughly £8.5 million, more than three times what they paid for the former Villareal defender in 2016. Bailly is 28 years old and is worth around that amount.
Martial was loaned out in January, but Bailly had a difficult season at Old Trafford, playing in just seven games in all competitions.
Erik Ten Hag will probably use the money raised from player sales to pursue a move for Frenkie de Jong, which Barcelona values at about €86 million.
