Manchester United set to announce Andre Onana signing within the next 24 hours

According to The Athletic, Inter Milan’s Andre Onana has finalized a contract with Manchester United, and the club is set to make an official announcement within the next 24 hours.

The 27-year-old goalkeeper was present at Carrington on Wednesday to undergo medical examinations and complete the necessary paperwork to finalize the deal.

The €55 million-rated transfer is almost complete, with only the final paperwork between the two clubs remaining.

Once the formalities are settled, Onana will head to the United States to join Erik ten Hag’s squad, who are scheduled to play against Arsenal in their 2023 pre-season fixtures on Saturday.

United have had a successful summer transfer window so far, having secured the signing of midfielder Mason Mount from Chelsea earlier in the month. Onana’s move to the club is also nearing completion.

Described as an outstanding shot-stopper with exceptional passing ability, the 27-year-old goalkeeper is expected to be a valuable addition to the team.

The Cameroon international has a close relationship with manager Ten Hag from their time together at Ajax, which should lead to a quick adaptation to the manager’s tactics and expectations.

After securing a goalkeeper and a midfielder, United’s focus now shifts towards signing a top-quality striker. Despite their interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane, the excessive demands have led them to pursue Atalanta’s Rasmus Hojlund.

However, a deal for the 20-year-old striker is proving to be challenging, as Atalanta are asking for at least €68 million for his transfer.

With Anthony Martial being the only recognized striker in United’s squad and his injury concerns, signing Hojlund becomes crucial before the start of the season.

The club may need to go the extra mile to secure the young talent’s services.
