Goalkeeper Kie Plumley has revealed on his Instagram page that he’s now a part of Manchester United’s goalkeeping unit.
He became a free agent after being released by Oxford United at the end of the previous season. Plumley had come through Oxford’s academy and signed a professional contract in 2021.
However, he didn’t get the chance to make a senior appearance for the club before his departure.
During his time with the club, the 20-year-old English star was named as a substitute goalkeeper on seven occasions, gaining valuable experience through loan stints at lower-league teams Weston-super-Mare and Beaconsfield.
Plumley has been included as one of the eligible under-21 players on United’s Premier League squad list. He aims to earn a spot in the starting lineup of the club’s youth teams.

The Red Devils required additional depth in their goalkeeping department following the departures of Dean Henderson, Nathan Bishop, Matej Kovar, and the release of David de Gea.
To bolster their goalkeeping options, they’ve signed Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, while still having Tom Heaton and Radek Vitek available. Teenager Elyh Harrison has been featuring for the U21s this season.
Plumley is expected to primarily feature for United’s youth teams this season, but he aspires to earn a place in the senior squad, making his progress intriguing to watch.
Man United will face a challenge in early 2023 when Onana is unavailable due to his participation with Cameroon in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, scheduled for January and February.

During this period, the young goalkeeper could potentially find himself in the matchday squad if injuries affect those ahead of him in the pecking order.
Plumley, who has been a lifelong Manchester United supporter, is eager to demonstrate his abilities and earn an opportunity to participate in an official competition for the club’s first team.
