As reported by the Mirror, Manchester United have stepped up their pursuit of signing Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund as they prepare for the upcoming summer transfer window.
While manager Erik Ten Hag’s primary target is Harry Kane, a move for the Tottenham Hotspur forward appears unlikely. Spurs are hesitant to negotiate his transfer to another rival Premier League club and might favour a move to Real Madrid.
As a result, there is a possibility that the English star could remain with the London club for the final year of his contract.
In light of this situation, United has shifted their attention to Rasmus Hojlund, who is valued at £40 million by Atalanta. The Danish international has emerged as the frontrunner to become United’s next striker.
Hojlund had an impressive 2022/23 season, recording 16 goals and seven assists across all competitions. Out of those, 10 goals and four assists were achieved while playing for Atalanta.

The 20-year-old Danish striker joined the Serie A side from Sturm Graz last summer. Although he is still working on becoming a consistent goalscorer, his playing style has drawn comparisons to Erling Haaland, which is a significant compliment.
The left-footed striker has an excellent aerial presence and excels in winning duels. He also possesses speed for counter-attacks and demonstrates good vision in the box.
During the recent international break, he showcased his scoring abilities by netting five goals in just two Euro 2024 qualifiers for Denmark.
