Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood granted bail after private hearing

As reported by the Guardian, Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood was granted bail on Wednesday, four days after he was accused of rape, acting in a controlling and coercive manner, and assault.

The 21-year-old, who was sent back into custody on Monday, missed the private bail hearing in a Manchester courtroom.

Following the hearing, the court announced that Greenwood had been granted bail with the requirement that he stays at a certain place and refrains from contacting any witnesses, including the complainant.z The English player must make another appearance in court on November 21. All three offences have been related to Greenwood’s girlfriend.

Greenwood was initially detained in January in connection with claims involving his girlfriend after pictures and videos were uploaded online. Since then, he has been free on bail; nevertheless, he was detained on Saturday due to a  conditional breach.

He hasn’t played for United since January because of being suspended by the Red Devils. The attempted rape took place in October 2021, and the claimed attack took place in December 2021. His coercive and controlling behaviour occurred between November 2018 to October 2022.

For now, he remains suspended for both club and country and it is highly unlikely that the case will be solved anytime soon since there has been no conclusion reached.
