Fallen giants Manchester United will be hoping to get back to winning ways against the newly promoted Aston Villa at Old Trafford as the pressure is piling up on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The Red Devils have had quite a disastrous start to the new season and Solskjaer has come under some heavy scrutiny over the past few weeks for poor performances from his United team.
Manchester United have been largely inconsistent this season, especially in the Premier League, and have managed just four wins in 13 games so far. However, they have had some good results at home of late and will fancy their chances of earning three points against Aston Villa going into this weekend’s game.
On the other hand, Aston Villa will be going into the game full of confidence after their 2-0 victory against Newcastle United last time around. The Villans currently sit in 15th place on the Premier League table with 14 points, and a victory against Manchester United on Sunday will take them level on points with the fallen English giants.
Players returning from injuries provide Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with a huge boost heading into the busy festive period. Scottish midfielder Scott McTominay is nursing an ankle injury and won’t be available for the fixture against Aston Villa. World Cup winning French midfielder Paul Pogba is still recovering from his injury and should return to action later this month.
Defenders Eric Bailly, Diogo Dalot and Timothy Fosu-Mensah seem to have recovered from their respective long-term injuries and have begun training with the first-team. Serbian star midfielder Nemanja Matic could return to the matchday squad against Aston Villa to fill in the void left by McTominay.
