Manchester United face Liverpool in the Theatres of Dream this weekend. Both the clubs so far are struggling to get all the points in their bag. This game is going to a decide finally who’ll take all the points. Liverpool managed a draw in both the fixtures. However, Liverpool were phenomenal the other day when their new summer signing Darwin Nunez was sent off for a silly challenge.
The last time this historic game took place in Old Trafford, United were once again left helpless. Liverpool s decisive attacking wing and defense totally outclassed the home side. The score line was a whopping 4-0 with the other fixture ending in another embarrassing 5-0 defeat.
Erik Ten Hag is expected to start Ronaldo once again who will lead the attacking frontier, supported by Rashford and Sancho. Bruno Fernandes and Eriksen are once again the obvious answers to the United midfield. On the other hand, Varane might get the green light instead of Lisandro Martinez who had a poor game against Brighton.
However, Liverpool are filled with injuries. Ibrahima Konate, Thiago Alcantara, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Diogo Jota would appear to be unavailable due to injury. As mentioned by Klopp, Joel Matip will also be out for two weeks with a muscle strain. Firmino might get some game time as Nunez misses out on this fixture.
The last time these two giants faced, Old Trafford was buzzing with anger and frustration. In fact, at the end of the 70th minute, Old Trafford was seen half empty. Fans left the field in advance to prevent themselves from watching United getting battered on their home soil. Luis Diaz opened the scoring books right at the 5th minute of the game. It was shortly followed by a brilliant Salah goal. The assist was even better when Sadio Mane lifted the ball over Diego Dalot and Harry Maguire. David De Gea was left clueless as the ball went in handing them a 2-0 cushion. Sadio Mane and Salah went on to score another one for the away team making it 4-0. The fine and elegant tactics orchestrated by Klopp paved the way for a much-deserved victory.
The away game was no exception as the demolition was once again witnessed. The aggregate of 9-0 in their favor says a lot of things. Especially the fact, that the team members and staff are not having the enthusiasm to play the right game. Keeping all these facts in mind and how Liverpool and United have started their new campaign, it’s a much-needed victory for both teams to increase their hopes for a title-challenging season.
