11 Marcus Rashford Facts You Need To Know!

Rashford was born on 31st October 1997. He was born and brought up in Wythenshawe, at Manchester, city of England. Marcus Rashford is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Manchester United and the England national team.

1. Marcus Rashford’s family

He is the son of Robert Rashford and Melanie Rashford, his father and mother. Rashford Is Of Kittitian Descent. His Ancestors were born somewhere in Saint kitts And Nevis Island. He was born on Halloween day.

Rashford’s dad, Robert acts as his agent while his mother Mel is a cashier by profession. She works with Ladbrokes online betting. She is also a devout Christian.

2. Rashford has three siblings

Marcus Rashford has got two brothers whose names are Dwaine Maynard and Dane Rashford and a half-sister Tamara Rashford, they both have the same dad, Robert. Tamara made it to the final of Miss England beauty contest – and said that she is looking forward to prove her worth outside the family.

Before his brother, Dwaine started driving Rashford used to have to get a bus from Wythenshawe into the town centre, and then a bus out of the town centre to Salford.

His other brother Dane was in the news at the start of the year when he and Tyler Alexander-Arnold, sibling of Liverpool defender Trent, were at the Littlerock cafe in the Moss Side area when three men armed with a shotgun, machete and baseball bats swooped on the premises, according to police sources.

Dane Rashford and Tyler Alexander-Arnold were taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary after the attack. A third man, said to be their friend, was injured.

3. Rashford’s first club were Fletcher Moss Rangers

Rashford’s first club were Fletcher Moss Rangers where he joined at the age of five. The club was founded in 1986 in Manchester, England.

Fletcher Moss Rangers has produced over 70 professional footballers in 31 years, several of whom went on to play at Manchester United and the England national football team.

Fletcher have been producing players who have gone on to become top professionals for 30 years now.

4. Rashford joined Manchester United at the age of seven

Rashford  joined the youth academy system of EPL club Manchester United at the age of just seven.

At that time Danny Welbeck, Danny Drinkwater and Jonny Evans were in the club’s upper ranks.

Rashford has bought a new lavish house in 2017 after splurging a whooping £1.85 million. Rashford’s luxurious six-bedroom Premier League pad consists of three floors and also comes with five bathrooms and a beautiful garden.

The lavish mansion also has an open plan kitchen, four reception rooms, and a double garage with space provided to set up a gym.

His brand new home is located in the leafy Bowdon, Cheshire, with a lot of Premier League stars and several of his teammates living in his neighbourhood. Rashford spent his childhood days in Wythenshawe, Manchester, and lived with his mum Melanie and his siblings in a £800,000 house taken on rent in Hale, Cheshire.

6. Rashford is dating a PR account executive

Marcus Rashford is currently in a relationship with Lucia Loi who  is a PR account executive for Manchester-based PR company, Sugar.

As her job involves networking and events organising, it seems she’s a good fit for Rashford and will know how to negotiate the fame that comes with dating an England footballer.

She says in her work bio that she loves “fitness, art and cooking” and “enjoys travelling”.The pair have remained discreet about their relationship.

7. Rashford’s idol was Brazilian icon, Ronaldo

Marcus Rashford was only five-years-old when he went to his first live game and witnessed a Brazilian striker confound his beloved Manchester United’s defence in a performance that would forever stay with the eventual England forward.

Like many Brazilian players who were mesmerized by Ronaldo’s goalscoring prowess at the start of the 21st century , Rashford was a huge Ronaldo fan and modeled his game according to how the Brazilian played.

8. Rashford wears the number 10 jersey for Manchester United

Marcus Rashford wears the iconic no.10 jersey since the 2018/19 season got underway. Rashford has become the first homegrown player to be given the number since David Beckham wore it in 1996/97 campaign.

Before being awarded to Rashford, the number was the property of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who departed the club midway through the 2017/18 season. Prior to that, it was occupied by Wayne Rooney for 11 years.

10. Rashford has a surprising Manchester United idol

In 2017 Marcus Rashford revealed the identity of his childhood footballing hero – and it was not what anyone expected

Despite being a forward for Manchester United and England, the 20-year-old said that his hero when growing up was ex-United and Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard.

Rashford said “Tim Howard was my idol. I used to have a little Tim Howard shirt.”

American ‘keeper Howard was at Old Trafford from 2003-2007, but is more well-known for his nine-year spell at Everton.

11. Rashford is worth £65 million

In 2018 Rashford agreed a four-year contract worth £200,000-a-week with Manchester United with an option of a further 12 months, in a deal that makes the 21-year-old one of the club’s highest-paid players.

Rashford signed a lucrative deal with Nike when he broke through at Manchester United and has featured in certain promotional campaigns.

He has also worked with huge brands like McDonalds and EA sports in advertisements often alongside superstars like Robert Lewandowski, Gonzalo Higuain and Harry Kane among others.
