Martial takes a U-turn

Martial has been targeted by the media as the player to leave Manchester before the start of pre-season. Even after the start of Premier league, Martial is hypothesised to leave the club after his amateurish performance against Brighton to which United lost 3-2.

After the match it was reported that Mourinho had a talk with Woodward over Martial’s future and wanted to sell him. Mourinho wanted Martial to be out so that he would be able to have sufficient fund in order to buy a player before January. Martial’s relationship with Mourinho has been indenting since pre-season after he missed the tour for the birth of his second child.

But The Sun has reported that Woodward did not agree with Mourinho on selling Martial and the midfielder has been heartened by United’s disagreement on selling him and wants to revive his career and place in the playing XI of the Reds. Martial does have the likes of Sanchez, Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard competing against him but is determined to regain his place under Mourinho.

Manchester Legend Paul Scholes took on Martial’s side claiming that he was not the one to be blamed for his performance. After their loss to Brighton he said:

“You have to get the ball to the players who can beat a man, who can win games for you.”

“Lukaku can do it. Martial can do it. Martial, in that first half – what was he on for? 55 minutes? An hour? He got one ball down the left-hand side in the first half. The Man United midfield players could never do it. They couldn’t get a ball in to Lukaku, they couldn’t get a ball in to Martial. “

With the confidence Martial is getting from the team, he surely would want to stay and perform well.
