According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Manchester United are prepared to offload defender Matteo Darmian to Serie A outfit Parma before the end of the summer transfer window.
Ole Gunnar Solskaer is keen on stamping his authority at Manchester United as the Norwegian boss has called for the sale of most of the deadwood that isn’t really helping the club progress. The Red Devils made a few big-name summer signings to reinforce their squad but are now getting rid of the players that will not have any impact on the team.
Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku joined Inter Milan about a week ago and Alexis Sanchez also joined the same club on a loan deal. English center back Chris Smalling is completing his medical with AS Roma at the moment and Darmian could be the fourth player to join an Italian club from Manchester United this summer.
With the transfer window ending on September 2nd, United are prepared to cut their losses with Darmian as the Italian has not been able to impress at Old Trafford since his move from Torino back in 2015 for a transfer fee of £12.9 million. The 29-year-old wing-back featured only 60 times across four campaigns and with Aaron Wan BIssaka and Diogo Dalot under Solskjaer’s belt, it doesn’t seem that Darmian will ever get the opportunity to play first-team football at Manchester United.
Earlier this week, the Norwegian manager confirmed that Darmian is at the exit door at Old Trafford as there is interest from his native, “Darmian and Rojo leaving? I can see maybe Matteo. There has been some interest in Matteo over in Italy.”
United are willing to sell Darmian at a mere £1.5 million as Serie A side Parma is monitoring the defenders’ situation at the moment and hoping to seal the deal before the European transfer window closes on September 2nd
