According to the Italian publication Dot Sport, Napoli are preparing a surprise bid to sign Manchester United starlet Willy Kambwala in the upcoming transfer window.
The Serie A champions have a terrible defensive record this campaign and are placed in the seventh spot in the Italian league, 34 points behind leaders Inter Milan.
Hence, they will be targeting fresh defenders to help them improve next season and it is said that they are eyeing a move for Man Utd’s young centre-back Kambwala.
The 19-year-old has impressed everyone at Old Trafford with his recent performances. He has helped Erik ten Hag deal with the injury crises by filling the void left by the injured senior centre-backs.

Napoli are also an admirer of the youngster’s ability to handle pressure at such a young age. The Serie A club’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis is ready to start negotiations with the Red Devils.
Kambwala has displayed impressive concentration and superior decision-making in the back-line with Rio Ferdinand calling him ‘magnificient’ in Man Utd’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool in the Premier League last week.
The French star has accumulated 234 minutes of game time in six Premier League matches. He is expected to get more minutes since Raphael Varane, Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans are still sidelined with injuries.
It is the perfect time for the youngster to show his quality to the management and secure his position in the senior squad.

The club might prefer to loan him out if they sign a few centre-backs or sell some of their current ones and keep Kambwala in the squad.
United have recently given several chances to their academy talents. They have been praised for raising star players like Alejandro Garnacho, Kobbie Mainoo and now Kambwala.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s management will be scouting more fresh players and bringing back the club’s ideology of believing in hungry young lads. We believe that they should protect Kambwala at all costs and tie him down to a new long-term contract.
