Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez has officially joined Serie A side Inter Milan on a loan deal after failing to impress at Manchester United for over 18 months.
Back in January 2018, Manchester United fans were over the moon as South American star Alexis Sanchez joined the Red Devils in a swap deal from Arsenal which also saw Henrikh Mkhitaryan go the other way. But 18 months later, those same United fans are glad to see the back of Sanchez as he has finally completed a loan deal to join Inter Milan.
Sanchez was on a staggering £400,000 a week deal at Old Trafford even though he was barely playing any games for United and that hefty wages were just a big liability for the 20 time League champions. The 30-year-old scored only five times since joining Manchester United and failed to display the same form he did when he was at Arsenal.
The star forward fell down the pecking order at Old Trafford and his poor form along with injuries did not help his cause.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskajer admitted that he had planned on giving Sanchez a chance this season but due to his involvement in the Copa America and returning late to training at Manchester United, his preseason was hampered. And no without any appearances this season, Inter Milan swooped in to sign Sanchez on a loan deal but without the opportunity to purchase the player after his spell at the San Siro.
However, United still have to pay Sanchez around £175,000 every week as the Nerazzurri are not willing to match his entire wage demands. Inter managed to sign Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku just a few weeks ago from Manchester United and the 26-year-old scored on his full debut to send Inter to the top of the Serie A table.
