Olympiacos enter race to sign United starlet Facundo Pellistri on loan

Manchester United’s preseason trip to Asia and Australia was mostly successful; the team won three games by sizable margins and drew the last match.

The opportunity to observe nearly the complete squad at his disposal has allowed new manager Erik ten Hag to form opinions about a good number of players.

Many young players, such as Zidane Iqbal and Charlie Savage stood out, and the Dutchman realized that not all of them would succeed in the Premier League this year and would benefit from a loan move.

As reported by the Sun, Greek champions Olympiacos have reportedly expressed an interest in bringing another United starlet, Facundo Pellistri to Greece since they are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements.

The Uruguayan international is sought after by a number of clubs, including those from Italy and Portugal, in addition to Piraeus. The 20-year-old would need to play frequently in order to play for the national squad when the World Cup begins later this year.

The former Penarol youth spent two different loan periods with La Liga’s Alaves. The previous season was a disaster, compared to the first one’s mild success. Initially, the winger from Montevideo was primarily utilized as a substitute and was quickly hooked. He went back to his original team without scoring or providing an assist.

Pellistri hasn’t played for United yet, but in two straight preseason games, he’s scored twice for the Red Devils. But it wasn’t enough to get him a spot on the United first-team roster.

The Uruguayan attacker will get a new opportunity at Olympiacos, and the Greek League might be more accommodating to him than La Liga, where he hardly tasted success.
