Patrice Evra names three first-team players that United should sell

Former Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra has named three first-team players that the club should get rid of before the transfer window shuts close.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire are the three names that are not in Evra’s good books due to their poor performances. The Portuguese striker’s future is a serious sign of concern and that has brought instability within the squad.

Any manager would want his player to be fully focused on his team but consistent links to other clubs will create a fuss for both the player and his team. Harry Maguire has been the key figure behind the defensive setbacks that the club has faced in the past two seasons.

The England international has struggled for consistency and his howlers have attracted criticism from fans and pundits. Last season the club let in a record number of goals in a league season and that was enough to justify the point.

Luke Shaw has struggled with fitness and he had been lacking productivity down the left-hand side. Ten Hag has signed Tyrell Malacia to compete against the English left-back. The former Feyenoord star has done well and could displace Shaw from his position in the line-up.

Evra believes that these players should now move on and the club should try to sell these players for their own good rather than rotting them in the squad.

As reported by the Manchester Evening News, he said:

“Let’s be clear, I can say people are too harsh on Harry Maguire, but he is paying the price for his transfer fee. We all have bad games, but now we’ve got to a point where even if he has a good game people are not happy. So there’s negativity around him.”

“The Cristiano Ronaldo saga is another issue. He’s still here, the transfer window isn’t closed but I think, personally knowing Cristiano if he doesn’t play he would like to leave.”

“Luke Shaw has been here for so many years and he hasn’t matched the standard set by Dennis Irwin or myself, and I think left-back is a really crucial position for United. Maybe it’s time for those players to go.”

Although these may not be kind words for a player to listen to but let’s get it straight to the point that United needs to act on the status of their unwanted players. Evra is not the one to mince his words and the club will need to look at the future of its rotting players.

The transfer window is still open and the board has time to sell them and find replacements. After all, the club always knew that they need to sign an attacker to replace Ronaldo.

The Red Devils have already signed Lisandro Martinez and Tyrell Malacia to cover the defensive spot and it would be better for them to bench the players who are not needed.
