Paul Pogba has a ‘gentleman’s agreement’ with Manchester United

According to the Manchester Evening News, Juventus has offered Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba a three-year contract, but the Frenchman’s wage demands have not been reached.

Also, in relation to a deal for Paul Pogba, Juventus CEO Maurizio Arrivabene has spoken of a “gentleman’s agreement” with Manchester United. Rafaela Pimenta, Pogba’s agent, is said to have initiated further negotiations with the Italian club about a return.

Paul Pogba’s contract at Old Trafford ends at the end of the season, and Juventus has long been mentioned as a possible destination.

The 29-year-old French midfielder has enjoyed four brilliant seasons in Turin, winning four Serie A titles, two Coppa Italias, and reaching the Champions League final.

Juventus CEO Arrivabene was asked about the Pogba deal, for which he said:

“Let’s just make one thing clear. Pogba is a Manchester United player. We must show respect for him and his squad. Having said that, Pogba’s agents are also the same ones who represent Kean and Luca Pellegrini, so it’s only normal we should meet with them.

“The subject of the meeting was not Pogba. If we wanted to talk to Pogba, we would need to speak to Manchester United. It’s a gentleman’s agreement between the clubs.”

The Old Lady has offered Pogba a three-year contract worth €7.5 million (£6.3 million) per year net. The central midfielder, on the other hand, demands €11 million (£9.3 million), putting a significant disparity between the two parties.

Pogba’s future has been confusing the fans as his Old Trafford contract comes to an end. Manchester City, United’s cross-town rivals, were linked with a bid for Pogba, but recent reports indicated he was not interested in heading to the Etihad.

Pogba, who has had a disappointing and injury-plagued season in Manchester, has also been linked with PSG. But it seems as if Juventus will win the race to sign the midfielder.
