Paul Pogba is on the verge of leaving Manchester United this summer. The midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the season, and he is unlikely to sign a new contract at Old Trafford amid mounting pressure from the fans.
According to Sky Sports, Pogba’s representatives have already begun conversations with a number of clubs around Europe, notably Real Madrid, over a possible move in the summer.
Along with Los Blancos, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus are also interested, and the midfielder hasn’t ruled out a long-term stay in the Premier League by signing for United’s rival clubs.
Pogba has attracted Real Madrid’s interest for a long time, as the Frenchman has been seen as a player who can replace the ageing Madrid players.
The 29-year-old hasn’t had the best of times at Manchester United in the last six years. Injuries have hampered his career, and he has failed to find his place in the Man United system.
But it hasn’t discouraged Real Madrid’s management, who value the midfielder’s technical ability and experience at the highest level of the game. Pogba has made over 400 appearances for both England and France and has around 100 caps for the French national team.
Real Madrid feels Pogba will be a great alternative for Luka Modric and Toni Kroos in the future, despite the fact that the Frenchman is 29 years old.
Pogba’s signing might be difficult as well, considering his quality and experience, and the Manchester United midfielder’s desire for a rich contract.
Because he is available on a free transfer, he may seek a large signing bonus. This may complicate things even more for a Real Madrid club looking to recruit Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, ahead of the new season.
