As reported by the Mirror, Paul Pogba has refused to sign a Manchester United jersey when he arrived in Turin.
Since United announced his exit at the end of the season, the Frenchman’s return to the Bianconeri was expected.
Paul Pogba’s turbulent six-year stay in Manchester wasn’t a fruitful one. During that time, the midfielder had some amazing individual moments, but he also experienced his fair share of frustration over his form and fitness.
The midfielder, who has been spending his holidays in the United States, flew to Turin this week to finalize his transfer to Juventus, where he previously played for the club between 2012 and 2016. As he was presented with a United shirt by a fan he refused to sign the shirt and that didn’t go well with the English fans.
To make things look worse, the recently produced documentary about the player has received a 1/10 rating from viewers on IMDb.
After spending four years at Juventus, Pogba returned to United in 2016 for a club-record £89 million fee. During his second stay with the club, the midfielder went on to make 226 appearances and score 39 goals while suffering from fitness issues.
Only the EFL Cup and Europa League were among Pogba’s major titles won at Old Trafford, and both came in his rookie campaign under Jose Mourinho’s guidance. The French player also had a poor relationship with the Portuguese manager, who was later fired in December 2018.
When Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was named as Mourinho’s temporary replacement, the midfielder went on a run of excellent play. However, this period was brief, and Pogba’s situation deteriorated again.
The Frenchman saw brief spurts of excellence over the years, including a hat-trick of assists in the 2020–21 campaign opener against Leeds United, but his brilliant performance quickly waned each time.
Paul Pogba has a strong resume even though he was unable to bring home either the Premier League or Champions League at Old Trafford. He contributed to France’s World Cup victory in 2018 by scoring against Croatia in the finals. He also won the Nations League, so he will be in high demand this summer.
Since his return from Juventus in the summer of 2016, it is estimated that the midfielder has made a total of £90.5 million at United – just a little bit more than the transfer fee the team paid to get him back.
This indicates that over the course of six seasons, Pogba received a total of £800k for each appearance he made for United.
