Manchester United is prepared for a major overhaul this summer, with new manager Erik ten Hag leading the charge with interim manager Ralf Rangnick, who will take on a consulting role.
Rangnick, whose career with the Red Devils will not be affected by his appointment as Austria’s new head coach, has provided insight into how the summer recruitment process will function.
The German coach has emphasized the importance of scouting young players like Erling Braut Haaland of Borussia Dortmund.
In 2020, signing Haaland might have been an option for the Red Devils – he was strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford before opting for Dortmund – but not now, as he is supposedly close to joining Manchester City.
However, Rangnick is still optimistic that the club should be targeting young players who could help the club build for the future.

As reported by SkySports, he said:
“My personal opinion is that the club should try to find future top star players and develop them. Again, on the other hand, just tell me five players that might be some of those players that you spoke about.”
“Haaland is a young player. He’s 21 or 22. This is one of those players I spoke about. But, on the other hand, he has developed in the last two years into one of probably the most expensive strikers in the world.”
“But, yes, he could be, he would be one of those examples where I think the focus should be on to try and identify and find and then convince players who could be Manchester United players for the next couple of years.”
The German has a strong track record of developing fresh players, as he has done with his beloved club RB Leipzig and believes that transfers will be crucial in providing Erik ten Hag with the necessary platform to succeed.
Regardless of not competing in the Champions League, Rangnick feels United’s stadium, and training facilities make them an attractive destination for the players. The club is looking for players with talent, pace, and quality to play for a big club like Manchester United.
The Red Devils have also been linked with a number of young talents, including Christopher Nkunku, Victor Osimhen, Antony, and Jurrien Timber.
