As reported by The Independent, Manchester United defender Raphael Varane has praised his fellow club and country teammate Paul Pogba for his influence on the squad.
Raphael Varane’s move to Manchester United was not at all predictable. He was nowhere close to joining the Old Trafford outfit during the early days of the transfer window. It seemed as if he will be either staying at Real Madrid or will be joining PSG.
Manchester United then made a surprising move to sign Varane, just days after signing Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund. Varane has since then, played well for United and has already started showing his dominance in the backline.
When asked about the player in the current Manchester United squad who he is inspired with, Raphael Varane was quick to speak about Paul Pogba. Paul Pogba has been playing with Raphael Varane for both Manchester United and the French national team. Varane has closely seen Paul Pogba develop into the player he is now.
Raphael Varane was full of praise for Paul Pogba as he said:
“Paul spoke to me about the club, about the atmosphere, about the expectations. He is a great player but he also has very good, positive energy. He is a leader for the group. I’ve known him for a very long time so I’m happy to play with him.”
Paul Pogba has been influential on and off the field and has been rarely injured since Solksjaer took over as the manager of the club. This season, he has been the main assist provider and had provided four assists during United’s opening day match against Leeds United.
If he continues at this rate, he will be among the top midfielders and will be having players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes, and Raphael Varane to life him to the next level.
