Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has reported that Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund new signing, will wear the number 17 shirt for the club.
This news comes as Fred, the current holder of the number 17 shirt, is expected to leave the club soon. Fred has not played for United since the Lyon friendly due to issues related to personal terms, and his departure from the club appears imminent.
According to Romano, Fred is likely to leave the club this week. He has been linked with moves to clubs like Galatasaray and Fulham.

Hojlund was not assigned a shirt number during his presentation on Saturday. However, once Fred departs, Hojlund is expected to be given the number 17 jersey.

The 20-year-old Danish international has previously worn four different numbers in his young career, starting with 45 at Copenhagen, then switching to 28, followed by number nine at Sturm Graz, and finally wearing number 17 at Atalanta.
Romano reports that Hojlund is likely to receive the No. 17 shirt once Fred leaves the club. The numbers 9 and 28 shirts are already occupied by Anthony Martial and Facundo Pellistri, who are expected to stay at the club.
The no.45 shirt is vacant, but both United and Hojlund prefer a lower squad number. However, they have to wait for Fred’s departure before finalizing Hojlund’s shirt number.

While Fred’s exit could happen in the coming days, there is no urgent rush as the striker may not be fit for the season opener.
He suffered a minor injury during Atalanta’s pre-season, and it may take a few weeks before he makes his competitive debut for Man United.
