Real Madrid showing interest in United right-back Diogo Dalot

La Liga and Champions League winners, Real Madrid are allegedly interested in signing Manchester United right-back Diogo Dalot next summer. The Los Blancos are also keeping an eye on other premier league stars like Joao Cancelo and Reece James.

At United, Diogo Dalot took some time to get rolling. But since becoming the Red Devils’ first-choice right-back in the second half of the 2021–2022 season, he has not turned back. This season, the 23-year-old has played in each of United’s games and contributed with two assists.

The Red Devils are set to activate the one-year option in his contract as the Portuguese international is currently in the final year of his current agreement. However, as per the Mirror, a number of elite European clubs, especially Real Madrid, have taken notice of Dalot’s performances.

Madrid’s first-choice right-back is still Dani Caravajal. But in recent seasons, the Spaniard has been blowing hot and cold, forcing Los Blancos to search the market for a solution. Thus, a number of players have surfaced as potential summer transfer targets for Real Madrid. The Spanish giant’s first priority in filling the right-back position is Joao Cancelo. However, Manchester City will make every effort to hang onto the Portuguese international.

Another target for the defending La Liga champions is Reece James. But the Englishman just recently committed to Chelsea by signing a new contract which runs until 2027.

Dalot may therefore be Real Madrid’s best option to fill the right-back position during the summer transfer window. Ancelotti’s side will have a difficult time following the Portuguese defender since United is eager to offer him a new deal.

The 23-year-old reportedly wants to stay at Old Trafford, according to recent reports. It will be intriguing to see if Dalot is seduced by the prospect of representing Real Madrid.

The player has also caught Barcelona’s attention in the meanwhile. The Red Devils will have to act swiftly to tie him to a long-term contract.
