Roy Keane has admitted that he wouldn’t have liked to have played alongside Paul Pogba. He seems to be frustrated by his inconsistency for club and country.
Pogba was one of the stars for France as he provided some fine performances for them in the Euro 2020. He was again involved against Switzerland where he scored a spectacular long-range goal. But it was not enough for France as they were knocked out by Switzerland on penalties.
But his performances have been not so consistent as he was also involved in a crucial error that led to an injury-time goal against Switzerland. Such mistakes do get the hard talk as the player has been providing inconsistent performances. At one time he does seem to be one of the best midfielders in the world and on another day he seems to play like an average footballer.

Manchester United legend Roy Keane is particularly not happy with this inconsistency and even after he praised him, he didn’t seems to be much impressed by his defensive abilities.
As reported by Goal, Keane said: “No doubt it would be frustrating. But this is all part of Paul’s character that people love to see and it’s great. But then I’d be looking at the goal they conceded in injury time when he was sloppy in midfield, that’s the bit I’d be really critical. It seems harsh because he’s done some brilliant stuff going forward today, there’s no doubt in Paul’s quality, it’s just the other side, maybe his maturity. United have had these problems. Can he play in a two midfield? He probably can’t, he hasn’t got the discipline. Even today he leaves you frustrated, even with his brilliant quality going forward he lacks that discipline defensively. The top players do it week in and week out and Paul doesn’t quite do it.”
He is critical in his analysis as we have also seen that he has been quite sloppy in his defending. He is a great player and we have no doubt about it but still, he has failed to bring consistency into his game.
Maybe, sooner or later he has to add that maturity in his game. For Manchester United, they also have a task in hand to try to bring out the best from the player.
