Chris Smalling to AS Roma has turned into a mini-saga this summer as United and Roma haven’t agreed on terms yet. The player and the Italian club had, as reported earlier, differences on the contract being offered to Smalling. But it is now being reported by Di Marzio that Chris Smalling and AS Roma have agreed on terms.

The former United captain has rejuvenated his career after he spent last season on-loan in the Serie-A. He was a rock at the heart of the defence for AS Roma throughout last season and was one of the best defenders in the league. Since his last month at Rome, the Italian club has tried to tie him down to a permanent deal but haven’t agreed on a deal with United yet.
It was reported earlier that Roma and Smalling had different opinions about the contract being offered for the centre-back. It is now being reported that AS Roma and Chris Smalling have agreed on personal terms and will now try to agree on a deal with United. The move for the centre-back is highly likely as Solskjaer doesn’t see Smalling in his plans.
The sale of Chris Smalling would help United to generate funds, which can be used elsewhere for new signings.
