Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjaer has confirmed that center-back Raphael Varane has returned to training. It is delightful news to hear as earlier it was reported that the Frenchmen could be out for more than a month.
Raphael Varane made a £40m move from Real Madrid to Manchester United this summer. Since then he has made seven appearances and has played really well in all of those matches.
Varane played a crucial part in helping France lift the UEFA Nation’s League trophy this October. It was also the 19th trophy of his already illustrious career. He suffered a groin muscle injury while playing the finals against Spain.
Solskjaer has revealed that the French centre-back has now started training on grass and has already started his rehabilitation.
While speaking to the club’s official website, he said:
“He’s working hard. As I said, it’s hard to put a time limit on players that you don’t really know, but he’s been on the grass and who knows?”
Harry Maguire was also injured at the end of September but made a quick return from injury. He played against Leicester City and Atalanta as well. Meanwhile, Raphael Varane will certainly not be a part of the squad facing Liverpool.
Solksjaer shouldn’t be risking Raphael Varane by forcing him to play next week. A similar issue occurred when the manager preferred to play Maguire against Leicester City, even if he was not fully fit to play. The outcome was that Harry Maguire had his hand in all four of the Leicester goals.
The French centre-back will be expected to train for a week or so before marking his return to the starting XI.
