Manchester United FC manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer saw his side win 2-1 against LASK earlier today with Martial and Lingard on the score-sheet. But his post-match press conference consisted of a lot of things that were not related to the match. One such thing was the departure of Alexis Sanchez to which Solskjaer confirmed that the Chilean has left for Inter on a permanent basis.
Sanchez has spent the entirety of this season at Inter Milan after being on-loan from Manchester United. The Chilean winger has flourished under Antonio Conte’s system in Italy, which sees him with no defensive responsibilities. Inter Milan and Manchester United have been in a long dialogue of negotiations regarding Sanchez’s future, as both the clubs wanted to stay put in Italy.
But his high wages were a stumbling block for the transfer, but as reported earlier, Inter have agreed to sign Sanchez. The transfer was confirmed by Solskjaer in the post-match interview who said “He’s a good player and had a good season down there at Inter. We wish him well.”
The Red Devils have let go of Sanchez for free but will reportedly save about €60m from his wages of two years. The money that was saved can be used elsewhere to get in players this transfer window or to renew other contracts.
