Solskjaer frustrated with United board due to Haaland’s failed transfer swoop

Manchester United’s search for a striker this summer ended only on the deadline day as Edinson Cavani joined for the Red Devils. United signed Ighalo on-loan in January but the striker has failed to deliver thus the club had to sign Cavani this summer. It is now being reported by ESPN that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is furious with United board that they didn’t sign Erling Haaland in January.

It was earlier reported in January that Manchester United were linked with several strikers, as they were desperate for goals. But United were left red-faced as they went from Erling Haaland to Josh King to finally signing Odion Ighalo. Even this summer, the United board reportedly didn’t sign even one Solskjaer’s priority signings which included Jadon Sancho and Dayot Upamecano.

It is now being reported that Solskjaer is furious with the United board for not signing Haaland in January. Haaland had a release clause of only €20m but United CEO Ed Woodward didn’t agree to pay it. The Haaland situation was another example of the United board’s incompetency as Haaland is now scoring bangers in a Dortmund shirt.

Manchester United will have to do smart business if the club has any ambition of reaching its old heights again.
