Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has waxed lyrical on his midfielder Scott McTominay after the youngster put in a spirited display over the weekend against Leicester City.
United ended a three-game winless streak in the Premier League thanks to Marcus Rashford’s eighth-minute penalty kick at Old Trafford on Saturday but Solskjaer claimed that young Scotsman Scott McTominay produced leaders display in the center of the pitch.
McTominay was extremely impressive in midfield in the absence of the injured French midfield ace Paul Pogba, shackling Leicester’s talisman James Maddison while triggering United’s counter-attacks as they kept the visiting side comfortably at bay.
And while speaking on the 22-year-old McTominay, Solskjaer was all praise for his young gun as the 46-year-old Norwegian stated, “He’s improving, isn’t he? Today, I thought he was excellent. He lost the ball a couple of times, which you’d expect because he’s learning his new role as a sitting midfielder.
Solskjaer further explained that McTominay isn’t afraid of putting in tackles and shows leadership qualities despite his tender age, “He goes into tackles, challenges, fights… if there are teams trying to intimidate us, he’s there, he’s a leader. I wouldn’t want to go into a 50-50 with him, put it that way.
United moved into fourth place in the Premier League table after ending Leicester City’s unbeaten run in the Premier League as Scott McTominay earned the Man of The Match award.
