Steve McManaman tips Manchester United to sign Jude Bellingham

Steve McManaman has pushed Manchester United to beat Liverpool to the signing of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, who is a long transfer target for the Red Devils.

The 18-year-old has been tipped to make the move to the Premier League in the near future after switching from Birmingham to Signal Iduna Park in July 2020.

Man United and Liverpool are said to be the front-runners in the hunt to sign the talented kid for England’s top-flight league, among a number of interested clubs.

McManaman believes the Red Devils need to bring Bellingham to Old Trafford to help patch midfield vulnerabilities as they hunt for reinforcements before the January transfer market closes.

As reported by Express Sport, Steve McManaman said:

“I think United need a center-midfielder of that ilk. Nemanja Matic and Juan Mata are coming to the end of their careers and Paul Pogba may leave. So if there’s one team that needs a player like Jude Bellingham, it’s Manchester United.”

Bellingham received many Premier League offers during his time at Birmingham, but he turned them down in order to secure a move to Germany’s top tier. Since joining Dortmund for £25 million in summer 2020, he has turned into one of the most exciting talents in European football.

Despite his age, the England international has already made 67 appearances for the Bundesliga’s top club, scoring seven goals and providing 12 assists. Bellingham’s poise on the ball, accurate passing, and vision is unrivalled for a youngster his age, so it’s no surprise that Man United and Liverpool are interested in signing him.

Jurgen Klopp is a renowned admirer of the highly-rated midfielder, but the Red Devils appear to be in greater need of his talents right now.
