United finally got hold of the young talent from Dortmund worth around 80 million pounds in the 2021 transfer window. Ole has always admired him and United wanted a winger and had kept an eye on him for quite a number of seasons.
Finally, last summer United signed him for the right winger role. Rashford up left and Sancho on the right flank. This duo has already yielded a lot of positive results while playing for their national team. However, United had a cracking first game of the season, seeing Bruno Fernandes scoring a hattrick in front of the Stretford End. Magical Moments!
Sancho made his debut against Leeds that very game and just got the last few minutes to show his masterclass performance. The joyous moments for United were short-lived as United tasted heavy defeats against Watford, Liverpool and Manchester City. In between the transfer window, Ole managed to get in our very own boy Cristiano Ronaldo.
Sancho lately had been under a lot of pressure for not performing well. It’s sad that the attention quickly turns towards the amount of money the club has spent. What people fail to understand is that the Premier League has a completely different atmosphere. Coping up here takes time and determination. Sancho has already proved his worth in Dortmund at the age of 21. He’s a completely different baller and his playing style is taking some time to adapt in the United’s system.
After appointing Ragnick as the main manager of United, Sancho has been back to his outrageous performance. He opened his scoring page in his Premier League game against Chelsea where he completely went past Jorginho due to his miss touch and then a cheeky right foot finish to help United go in the front foot. What a way of humiliating the European Champions. Unfortunately, the game ended 1-1 due to Eric Bailey’s handball. Another brilliant goal by Sancho helped United secure a point against the strong Saints.
While Cristiano Ronaldo was warming up along the Turf Moor pitch, the Portuguese came to a standstill to watch Sancho’s dazzling footwork. It looked so easy for the fans how he dribbled past those Burnley players. With Anthony Martial on loan to Sevilla and Greenwood being suspended it has increased the chances for Sancho to outcast his talent and skills. Sancho kept Connor Roberts in his pocket against his Burnley game.
According to a lot of football enthusiasts he has been a major “FLOP”. Then they haven’t seen Jack Grealish and Romelu Lukaku suffer throughout this season. They are worth way more than Sancho and have been horrific throughout the season. Jack Grealish has definitely been one of the worst signings of this season and having a much lesser G/A than Sancho, yet Sancho is considered a bigger flop. But the attention will quickly turn towards him as Manchester City will clinch their second consecutive Premier League title.
Sancho had this similar kind of performance last season when he was in Dortmund. Hardly managing to have a contribution in the games. Look how that turned up! At the end of the season, he had 8 goals to his name and 11 assists and the season before that was something that made United fall in love with this man. He had 17 goals and 16 assists across all competitions. Completely outrageous! Sancho is surrounded by a lot of experienced players like Edison Cavani and Cristiano Ronaldo to help him move on the right track. Ole commented on Sancho’s performance that, “He will be a top player and performances are going to come”. Rival fans are having a sceptical approach on Sancho’s performance. But Sancho has been proving all of us wrong day by day. Game against Middlesbrough saw us getting knocked out of the FA CUP but it was Sancho who was all over the Old Trafford pitch.

United needs to benefit from Sancho’s upturn in form and give him the ball every time United gets possession because he looks like he wants to grab the ball by the scruff of the neck. After remaining patient, United are finally starting to see the conspicuous qualities that he brings to the team. If this form holds up till the end of the season, United can be in the top 3 easily despite not conceding goals due to defensive heedlessness. Sancho is one of the most important players of the United team no matter what the results yield.
