Tonali snubbed United to go to AC Milan

Manchester United FC have made their first signing of the transfer window with Donny Van de Beek joining the Red Devils. But before signing the Dutchman, United were reportedly interested in the Italian wonder-kid Sandro Tonali of Brescia, as a long-term replacement for Matic. It has now been reported that Tonali snubbed United to get a move to his boyhood club AC Milan, where he will spend the next season on-loan.

Sandro Tonali is one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in the world, who is ready for the step up. Tonali is an Italian international, who plays as a defensive midfielder, and has been compared to the likes of Andrea Pirlo. But reportedly Tonali snubbed Manchester United to join AC Milan, which is his boyhood club.

In his talk with Top Calcio24, Brescia president Massimo Cellino said that “As soon as Milan showed real interest, he did not want to listen to any other options”. He also added, “We also had interest from Barcelona and Manchester United, but the lad is in love with Milan and went crazy once he heard of their offer, because he supports them.”

Tonali would have been a great signing for United but by signing Van de Beek none of the United fans would really be bothered by Tonali.
