Manchester United FC have been very busy in the transfer market this window, and are looking at completing their squad overhaul. Ed Woodward and Solskjaer have been keen on shipping out players the manager doesn’t see in his long term plans. Reportedly, Inter Milan have agreed to sign Sanchez permanently, but Smalling will return to United after no agreement was found with AS Roma.
But now, the tireless winger has found new life with the Nerazzurri and is enjoying life under Antonio Conte’s system. The Chilean had a tough start to life in Italy as he was plagued with injuries. The Chilean has been brilliant since the restart and is showing signs of rejuvenating his career in Italy.
This season, Sanchez has played 22 games in the Serie-A, in which he has scored four goals and has further provided nine assists. The 31-year old winger wanted to stay at Inter and so did the club but had a problem of agreeing to a transfer fee. Inter were trying to get him on-loan once again, but United only wanted a permanent move.
It is now being reported that the Red Devils have agreed on a free transfer deal for the permanent move of Sanchez. Inter Milan have listed Alexis Sanchez in their squad in the Europa League, which confirms his move to the Nerazzurri. The deal hasn’t been official yet but is believed to be announced very soon as Nerazzurri play a Europa League game this week.
On the other hand, Woodward hasn’t been able to strike a deal with AS Roma for the move of Chris Smalling. The Red Devils want to ship Smalling out as well but have failed to agree on terms with the Italian club. Roma wanted to keep Smalling on-loan for one more season with a compulsory buy the next year.
The clubs couldn’t reach an agreement, which will see Chris Smalling returning to Old Trafford this week. AS Roma have lost their chance of keeping Smalling for the Europa League but will try again to sign the centre-back. Smalling has no short of suitors with several Italian clubs linked to him, and only time will tell where Smalling plays next season.
